Build it in one sitting

Work done, kids in bed. Finally getting around to watching The Bear — about 6 months late on that one.

Had more open time to fill today (as opposed to responding to client work or tasks). Feel pretty good about where I ended up.

→ Productivity: 9/10

→ Creativity: 8/10

→ Mood: 8/10

What did I work on today?

  • Pagetear:

    • Wrote a few emails for a client to promote new blog content.

    • Organized some ideas for a client’s social proof section on their landing page.

    • Got word that a client wants to pause — which is bitter sweet. Bitter because I want to keep that relationship in tact and grow revenue, but sweet because that’s literally why I run PT with the pausable model.

  • Ghostwriting:

    • Submitted some new content today, but didn’t really focus here as much today.

  • Content:

    • Wrote 40-ish future posts today. A lot of shorter stuff, a couple medium-sized posts.

    • Started plotting out my next issue of Viral Examples.

    • I literally built this website today, all in one go.

What did I struggle with today?

  • Routine is great, but it also gets pretty boring. Most of my days end up feeling pretty much the same…wake up, get kids to school, walk 2 miles, get ready, work work work, lunch, work work, hang with kids, put them to bed, chill. Might need to shake some of the “chill” parts up.

  • Prepping to submit taxes is the worst thing in my life right now and it ain’t close.

What did Iearn today?

  • I planned my day the night before. And it worked so much better for getting straight into my work this morning.

  • If you have an idea for a project, try to build it in one sitting. If you can’t, the chances you finish it go down significantly.

What questions am I asking today?

  • Can I build this project in one deep work session? If not, how can I be sure I’ll finish it?

  • What could I shake up in my routine that could have high impact?
