My best productivity system

My best productivity system

Big writing day.

And on writing days, I usually focus solely on that and don’t do a whole lot of work elsewhere. Later this evening, I took the fam to see the new kitten we are getting in just a few weeks. He’s a Maine Coon, so he’s gonna be a huge cat.

→ Productivity: 7/10

→ Creativity: 9/10

→ Mood: 7/10

What did I work on today?

  • Pagetear:

    • Prepped a bigger request for a client to finalize tomorrow.

    • Gathered some context for a new client that’s likely to join in the next couple of days!

  • Ghostwriting:

    • Big focus for today. Once every 2 weeks, I try to knock out all my writing for clients. Managed to create a month’s worth of content for one client, and prep ideas and outlines for a new client I have coming on board on Monday.

  • Content:

    • I launched a new little feature for Pagetear called Working Sessions. This is essentially a landing page audit, but totally live and real-time. Already got my first purchase at $499.

What did I struggle with today?

Nothing too crazy today. On writing days, I usually struggle to keep energized since writing is such an exhausting exercise (at least for me). Today was certainly like that, but I got a lot done relatively quickly.

I also recorded a podcast interview today that was just kind of a slog. Man, it’s hard to be a host carrying the load for 30 mins when your guest just can’t bring any heat. I probably average ~2 interviews pre week, and most guests are OK. But this one was just way too boring, and wasn’t really possible to reel it back in.

What did Iearn today?

The best productivity system is pen, paper, a timer, and a little discipline. No other system has ever worked for me, but this one is tried and true. Especially for creative work like writing.

What questions am I asking today?

  • If you had to build a theme park from any existing IP that doesn’t already have one, which IP would you pick and why?

  • How can I sustain the things that matter in my work? What can I cut out immediately?
