Competing priorities (hint: family wins)

My youngest has the flu. Nothing too bad, but enough to keep her home for the day with dad. And you know what that means? Zero productivity. And hey, that’s OK.

→ Productivity: 1/10 for work, 10/10 for family

→ Creativity: 2/10

→ Mood: 6/10

What did I work on today?

  • Pagetear:

    • No requests today! First time in a while that’s happened. That’s the result of being ruthlessly proactive and buying myself a day with a sick kid where I don’t have to worry about anything.

    • Still did some LinkedIn outreach just to build the muscle, and sent some emails for good measure. Actually might have a new client after just a few messages, which is sweet.

  • Ghostwriting:

    • Thinking about bringing on a new, smaller client. I’m at the point with ghostwriting where I am turning away much more often than I accept opportunities. Good problem to have, but a new problem nonetheless.

  • Content:

    • I captured a couple ideas, and that’s really all the content my brain had space for today.

What did I struggle with today?

  • I’ve planned out and written this whole new thing for an idea I’m considering launching. It’s in my Typefully drafts, fully fleshed. But I’m hesitant to publish. It’s a big undertaking, and I don’t feel like I have enough reliable support in place from my social media audience right now to get instant engagement and make the post pop. Feels risky. Gotta overcome that fear, though.

  • It’s just been one of those weeks. On Monday, the whole family was home from school sick. Yesterday, I had a dental snafoo. And today, my kiddo got the flu and I didn’t have time to do a whole lot. But again, how grateful I am that all those things can happen and it doesn’t ruin us financially and it isn’t a big deal when I essentially have to take a day off.

What did Iearn today?

  • I like the idea of writing stories or copy that takes place in a very compressed amount of time. It builds urgency. It makes the story more real. I want to explore this a bit more.

What questions am I asking today?

  • How can I compress my stories or copy into super short timeframes?
