You control the expectations you set

Made a shift from 30 min walks to 60 min walks the past few days. Returns are early but looking good. Would recommend.

→ Productivity: 6/10

→ Creativity: 6/10

→ Mood: 8/10

What did I work on today?

Pagetear:

Got a one-off request from a non-client (which I rarely take on), but had worked with this guy about a year ago. He remembered an audit I did that long ago, and came back when he saw I started Pagetear to write all new copy for the same page.

Had a discovery call and for the first time, I really had to put the hammer down on expectations. The potential client wanted a whole lot in a super expedited time period, but on the cheapest budget possible. Thankfully, we just needed to work through more context together. We will be working on a project in a week.

I invested in a new course today from Nathan Baugh called Storytelling: Zero to One. Using as a way to jumpstart my LinkedIn posting. More on that in the “learning” section.

Write several story posts after getting some inspiration from that course.

What did I struggle with today?

I’ve started on more of a carnivore diet lately, and today we had so little in the fridge that I literally just ate 3 eggs. Just like being a college kid again, minus the 3 eggs.

What did Iearn today?

Relationships matter. That non-client I mentioned above? He remembered some good work I did from a while ago. He came back to give me more money, unprompted, because of the experience he had a year earlier.

Stand up for your expectations and limitations. If you can’t deliver work in X time period or for Y budget, so it with bravado. You control the expectations you set.

Twitter/X is really good for quips, tips, and tactics. LinkedIn is great for stories. Gonna stop repurposing posts 1:1 on each and adjust them a lot more accordingly.

What questions am I asking today?

Which old relationships can I resurface?
